GLEN ELLEN STAR'S FALL MENU PREVIEW
If you live in or near Sonoma, I'm sure you must've enjoyed at least a meal or two at Glen Ellen Star and if you haven't, what are you waiting for?! I've had some of the best meals of my life at this adorable little restaurant owned by Chef Ari and his lovely wife, Erinn. They have a fancy new website, so go check it out!
Ari is a chef with huge heart and he cooks with local ingredients (see my previous blog post about our field trip to the Marin Farmer's Market) and as it was the first day of Fall a few days ago, here's a teaser of the new fall menu.
Wood roasted eggplant, harissa, spigarello and fried chickpeas
Brick chicken, wild rice with vadouvan
House made Farfalle, pomegranate, chanterelles, pepitas and pumpkin butter
Hello, yum! The other things I love about Glen Ellen Star are how much of a family affair it feels like. I was able to sit in on a meeting before dinner service and Ari went over the menu, talked about how many desserts there were to sell and servers wrote down the specials, one of them has even kept all of her special sheets since starting to work there (see photo below).
The restaurant also has a lovely little side room that's open for private parties and it was designed by my friend, Brittany and Justina of Harlin Sparrow. I dig the big chandelier and wood accents in the space. If you sign up for their newsletter, you can get notified of their weekly neighborhood nights where the corkage fee is waived and Chef Ari will dazzle you with his culinary skills.
PS - Don't be a dummy and just show up and expect to be seated, reservations are important!
