Today I'm excited to announce that you can pre-order my Portrait Photography class from Brit + Co! (The official release dates is 8/23) And I just got some of the marketing elements back and I'm freaking out about how awesome things look! Putting together this class was a lot of work, but also really fun because I know my shit when it comes to taking portraits after doing it for the past few years and I love teaching, but OMG the nasty little voices in my head that popped up when the date to shoot rolled closer. What is it about deciding to assert oneself as an expert that makes these little gremlins come out, it was honestly quite astounding.
Thankfully I have a kick ass group of friends and an awesome coach that pushed me though it because I was struggling. Now I know that most blog posts promoting a class will be all fluffy and wonderful and pretend that this shit isn't hard, but it is, especially because I am a woman. More on this topic later, but now back to the behind the scenes pics that you'll probably enjoy far more than reading about me being "in it".
Brit + Co got us a kick ass studio to shoot in and the photo above was the set up for the talking head stuff. Most of the time there were about 5 people watching me and in the beginning it freaked me out, but somehow you get used to it. It is the same thing I imagine happens to people on reality shows, you just kind of ease into the feeling of having lights/camera on you. Or maybe it is just the starlet in me that was exciting to have a set up like this just for me, ha!
I am so impressed with the professionalism of the Brit + Co production team, especially my producer, Brian. He really helped me through some sticky spots like saying DSLR instead of DLSR over and over again. Brian would ask thoughtful questions to get me to where I needed to be in terms of delivering information in a cohesive way. Can't wait to see the final video and here's the team after a long day of shooting - they're all so cute!
Will post more about the class as it gets closer!
